Billy Elkins is a professional photographer, graphic designer, and instructor with nearly 30 years of experience helping people and brands communicate visually with clarity, creativity, and purpose.
Known for his approachable teaching style and ability to adapt to individual learning styles, Billy creates engaging, hands-on learning experiences that empower students, creatives, and professionals alike. Whether teaching photography, Photoshop, or design principles, his goal is always the same: make complex creative concepts feel accessible, inspiring, and practical.
Originally from New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Billy graduated from Daytona State College before relocating to Sarasota in 1995. He began his career working in a local service bureau and large-format printing company, building a strong foundation in print production, color management, and visual communication.
In 2000, Billy launched his own graphic design business while also teaching custom Photoshop classes. His passion for visual storytelling eventually expanded into professional photography during his years working at a full-service commercial photography studio from 2005–2013. Today, photography and design work seamlessly together in his creative process, allowing him to offer clients a complete visual experience from concept to final image.
Billy works closely with businesses, organizations, and creative professionals throughout the photography and graphic design industries. He is a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and Nikon Professional Services (NPS), an Adobe Certified Professional, and also serves as an Adobe Customer Advisor. Over the years, Billy has led Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photo Walk events, co-organized Help-Portrait events, and spoken at photography workshops, schools, and creative education programs.
Beyond client work and instruction, Billy is passionate about helping others grow creatively and professionally through photography, design, and meaningful visual storytelling.
